    • Great location for hiking the mountains. Great public bath and perfect western breakfast
    • This place was incredible!! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. The shuttle service was very helpful for coming and going from the train station and to various activities. The onsen was clean and relaxing. There was laundry available for use. Games outdoors and indoors. Just amazing.
    • It seems that the hotel was recently renovated, and everything was very clean and attractive. Good location. We arrived a little after 7:30 pm. The restaurant had already taken last orders, but the staff were very helpful about locating a restaurant that was still serving dinner and provided shuttle transportation, which made it very convenient. The hotel's restaurant, Gio's, has great food and a pleasant atmosphere.

    Cons -

    • This hotel does not have terminals for paying by credit card, so guests have to pay online. I found it difficult to do the online payment on my iPhone at checkout. The first time, the credit card authorization failed, and I had to redo it. If there had been a credit card terminal, the authorization would have taken about 15 seconds. Instead, it took 15 minutes. I wondered why the hotel didn't have a credit card terminal (I've never encountered this situation at a hotel before). The clerk's explanation was that the Hakuba Group operates many properties and would need "about 30 terminals" if they used terminals. Her explanation sounded dubious to me: Many businesses have multiple outlets, but they have credit card payment terminals at all of the points where customers make payments.
    • Staff at the hotel.
    • Very expensive.

We loved our room: 2 sinks, full bathroom, separate area with a little couch AND a little beanbag

Great room, friendly staff.Shuttle bus service was great!

Centrally located with complimentary transfers to the various ski resorts. Onsen and laundry facilities were excellent, and the rooms spacious. Would certainly stay at The Happo again.

    9ApolloPosted on: 4-25-2025

This place is amazing and live to the expectation. However, the staff could be more friendly and hospitable. The room is a bit small, but the onsen in the hotel is amazing. The area Happo one is also amazing with alot of nice and walking distance restaurants and establsihments. Would book it again because of convenience. The restaurant (clubhouse) has an amazing staff and nice iced match latte. Overall, 8.5/10.

    Staff at the hotel.

The staff was super nice! The bed is amazingly comfortable and the transfer system was really hepful for us. The dry room is superb and very organized. Close to all the main spots in the downtown.

    Very expensive.

So clean and up to date. Very comfortable. They had everything we needed. Ski lockers with heated boot dryers. Plenty of outlets and usb outlets.

The Happo was our second hotel location within the town of Happo and it was stellar! The convenient location of the hotel puts it in walking distance of all hot spots within the town and for locations that were a bit too far to walk, or when the snow was too heavy, the Happo team were incredibly accomodating in organising shuttle busses for guests. One of the town’s bus stops is conveniently situated at the hotel’s entrance too, so getting to different ski fields was hassle-free. Having Gio’s and The Clubhouse located within the building was incredible - immaculate vibes at all hours of the day/night. I can’t wait to return!

We loved the breakfast, the onsen and our room was wonderful. The shuttle service to the slopes and some restaurants was fantastic. Would recommend the Happo to anyone looking for a great ski holiday!

Location is excellent for access to restaurants and bus terminal Rooms are spacious

One of the staff on reception was unable to answer simple how to anc can I type questions As didn’t understand pretended to and kept clicking at the computer and replying by asking me unrelated question like “have you rebooked “ So we stopped asking anything if this person were on duty . They need complimentary pick ups and drop offs from local bus and train stations with a phone number to call when you get there . Dragging your bags and skis boards around to get there on icy roads is not fun and taxis are not available most of the time and do not answer their complimentary telephone booking system at the bus station General info - also the codes and times of the 7 to 15 different bus timetables posted to allow you to get around Habuka free with your lift pass are almost impossible to work out and restaurants have long ques or need reservations days ahead

Location and 1 receptionist. Do not remember his name. Very nice gentleman from Brasil, about 5'11" with glasses. Bathroom was interestingWomen's onsen was nice.

The other receptionists ....well let's say we have had way better reception and attention at 1 star hotels. Dramatically different from what we encountered throughout the other 5 cities we visited in Japan. We staryed at 3, 4 and 5 star hotels throughout Japan, for a third of the price of this one, and this stay left a sour note in our Japan trip.At first we questioned the reception area client service and thought it was local, and then came to find out that the bar client service and attention was even worse. Sat there for 10-15 mins and none of the 3 staff members that were chit chatting at the bar area came to our table or provided instructions how to order. Again, we gave them the benefit of the doubt and figured it was "cultural". But when we returned hours later with other staff at the bar, they actually provided us with a menu and took our order normally. So some staff retraining and/or cherry picking could be beneficial to sort out the bad apples.Centralized heating system with the option of "crack open a window a little bit mate to cool the room down" is not in frequency for what we paid. The lack of attention by providing a 5 gallon jug of water in the hallway, is certainly practical and I reminisced of my college dorm years when time were rough.Again, the value is not there, not even the location. Seems like the hotel owner is just trying to squeeze and ooze out every single bit of profit. With so many other hotel options are nearby, I regret trying to "treat and spoil" my family to a special stay and ending up with a Motel 6 stay. A family stayed with us and then stayed at a nearby hotel for a fifth of the price and ended up with a better stay experience.

    Shuttles and room facilities

Reception staff communication skills were minimal

    8DanielPosted on: 1-3-2025

The hotel was newly renovated so everything is new. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

The shuttle buses from ski base back to hotels very often would come late

    10CeceliaPosted on: 12-30-2024

Location was perfect. Ski rental equipment outlet Rhythm was just outside the hotel. You could also return the equipment on site in the ski locker section.Complimentary shuttle services to Evergreen Ski School also made it so convenient. Rooms were comfortable, clean, functional and so well thought out. Absolutely love the cosy vibe of the property. Onsen in the property provided a perfect ending to any ski day!

    9AlanPosted on: 12-21-2024

Great location close to all the ski hire shops. The family room was lots of fun and big enough for a family of 4. The Italian restaurant downstairs was excellent albeit a little expensive.

On departure our ride to the bus stop was late and we had to do a runner.

    Spacious & comfortable room.

Onsen: water not hot enough, changing room not warm enough, lighting in changing room is too bright.
